I think that when dragging data to the desktop, a copy should be done unless you force a drag-move by holding down the Control key (OD Programmer's Guide, p 604). You're right though, this does not work. I'll file a bug. Another problem is that Undo is enabled after drag-copy, which doesn't seem right, since the source document didn't change.
